Who You Gonna Call?

Who You Gonna Call?

Keir Lyon-Fraser is one of a few new additions to the PCN team here in Amsterdam. He joined the recruitment team in October. He was born in Manchester, UK and moved to Amsterdam to work full time as a Headhunter.

Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself?

I'm Keir Lyon-Fraser, I am 24 years old and from Manchester, in the UK. I studied history at the University of Manchester where I specified in medieval history and did my dissertation on the fall of the crusade states in 1291. I've got a background working within tech firms and I moved to Amsterdam in October to join the Payments & Cards Network team. I made the choice to move to Amsterdam because I wanted to work in recruitment and I have always liked the atmosphere of the city.

What led you to work at PCN?

I was in the process of applying for jobs with a few firms and I was lucky enough to have my CV passed onto Payments & Cards Network. After my first interview with Payments & Cards Network I knew it was the place I wanted to work. The company culture is very different for this type of industry and not to dissimilar to the cultures of the companies I've previously worked for so that very appealing to me.

What made you interested in recruitment?

It's always like and enjoyed the sales aspect of my previous roles and when my brother started working as a recruiter in Singapore I knew it was something I also wanted to pursue. Furthermore, I enjoy the start-up feel of a company like Payments & Cards, not to mention how employers are expected to be self-motivated rather than rely on managers to drive their enthusiasm. Finally, my interest in payments has also played a part in my career choice, but I never had the technical background to pursue it further, until now.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I've always been entrepreneurial and this role helps me fulfil that desire. It is really my own choice who I call, which clients I want to pursue and what direction I want to take my vertical in, therefore my role allows me to create a mini business within a business. I also get the chance to talk to interesting people across the world every single day and helping someone find their dream job is really great.

Finally, what are your hobbies outside of work?

I've been an avid video game player since I got the PlayStation 1 way back in the 90's. I also enjoy sports, particularly track and field however, I don't participate in them as much as I should. Finally I like to watch different TV series, I just finished Netflix's Narcos and I'm now making my way through Stranger Thing 2.
