We discussed what it’s actually like to work at Payments & Cards Network before, so I thought it would be apt to write a post about what company culture is and why it is important to any business.

Company culture is basically the personality of a company. It gives a company a kind of identity; anything from their aims and objectives, to their values and the working environment itself. So why is company culture important? 

A better commitment to the company

Employees of the company tend to feel more confident working towards a common goal. A company where you are excited about the work that takes place there is something very special! It makes employees committed to their work and to the aims of the overall company. This is why is it important to highlight and remind people of the impact the company is making in that specific industry. 

Makes a better working environment 

A good company culture stems from great personal relationships in work. Colleagues who spend time together during lunch breaks and after work, tend to know each other on a more personal level and are even friends. This is very important in an office because it also means employees are able to communicate with each other more effectively. 

Happier people

A good company culture allows for happier employees. If people are content with the meaningful work they are carrying out and their relationships within the office, then this paves the way for success and higher levels of productivity. A recent study even suggests that happier employees are 12% more productive

Furthermore, a good company culture also allows for less staff turnover than those who lack in this area. The reason for this is quite obvious, if an employee is happy and content with the work they are carrying out, they are less inclined to look elsewhere for career growth.

Company culture is becoming more important than ever. After all millennials coming into working life see things differently. They are more interested in career growth, which means many change jobs under 2 years in comparison to staying at a job which offers stability. Therefore, companies need to start thinking of ways to keep young people in their jobs, the answer to this would be to have a good company culture.
