Money 20/20 Europe is sadly over for another year but we experienced a fantastic few days filled with innovation and future FinTech ideas! It was remarkable to see the conference coming to Amsterdam because there is such a strong financial sector here, not to mention it is also where the Payments & Cards Networks Headquarters is based. This gave the whole team the opportunity to meet Payments people from all over the world and allowed us to put together exciting network opportunities - like a private boat party!
It was great to see so many different companies and speakers at the conference from Antonio Banderas to Steve Wozniak, who reminded those at the conference that payments is about people and why we should not get carried away with the price of Bitcoin. Furthermore, Bud, who mentioned they have an exciting announcement in the latest issue of Payments & Cards Magazine, revealed the release of Bud.X which enables companies to get easy access to Open Banking.
The circus theme was extremely well presented throughout the conference especially in the RAI which is a great venue. Money 20/20 also did a good job in incorporating the Dutch culture into the event. For example the “Taste of Amsterdam” in Amstelpark was a great food festival which allowed attendees to try the best restaurants that Amsterdam has to offer, exclusive to Money 2020. It was a perfect opportunity to network over food, drinks and music!
Boat Party and Street Takeover
Payments & Cards Network also held a private boat party which took 70 attendees from the RAI to the Money 20/20 street takeover. The boat was a fantastic standing reception with drinks and Dutch style snacks included. Enjoying the sunshine on the boat made the whole experience even more enjoyable as those who had travelled all the way to Amsterdam were blown away with the view of the city from the water (video of the boat party coming very soon!). It was great to welcome aboard delegates from Circle, PayU, and many more! We also had two short speeches from Metro Atlanta Chamber and the UK government FinTech sector discussing the FinTech landscape in both Atlanta and in the UK - highlighting why it’s important for companies to invest in these countries. If you’re interested in finding out more information about the FinTech ecosystem in Atlanta, read the Atlanta special of Payments & Cards Magazine.
Once we arrived to the Money 20/20 street takeover it was extremely impressive how they transformed the Reguliersdwarsstraat and were not joking when naming it a ‘street takeover’ as all the bars and whole street was filled with Money 20/20 people!
Thank you to everyone we met along the way and we are looking forward to doing it all again next year in Amsterdam!
