Head of Card Schemes Product Management
We are hiring a Head of Card Schemes Product Management to contribute to the success of a brand-new Acquiring department and support the business’s rapid expansion and innovation.
Your main responsibility will be to contribute to the development, management and overall strategy of new & existing Card Scheme Partners & Products. You will ensure that your assigned Scheme Partners as well as portfolio of products are managed effectively, with a focus on retention, value upselling, contract negotiation and lobbying for new products.
In this hybrid role of Product Management & Relationship Management, you will have the opportunity to interact at all levels externally (e.g. being the main business advisor for partners) and internally (e.g. acting as a Project Manager to make sure the acquiring function infrastructure is scaling during rapid growth).
Reporting to the current CEO of the Acquiring practice, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects & products related to global card schemes including Visa, Mastercard, Amex, UPI (CUP), JCB and play a key role in building a world-class department as well as products.
Build an overall effective relationship with Visa, MasterCard, UPI (CUP), Diners, Amex, JCB and potentially other relevant schemes internationally.
Drive positioning of the group toward the schemes
Innovate, negotiate discounts, lobby for marketing funds, lobby for project funding, incentives, etc. Evaluate new business opportunities related to scheme positioning
Implementation of new business opportunities and scheme changes throughout the organization Set a strategic roadmap for the acquiring business related to schemes in cooperation with stakeholders
Communicate product vision and strategy towards other groups and stakeholders Secure internal stakeholder involvement in ongoing activities & initiatives
5+ years’ Card Scheme Relationship Management, Product Management and/or Project management experience, in a Card Scheme, a third-party acquirer or in a PSP.A strategic thinker with excellent project management skillsSolid knowledge of today’s major ecommerce and payments technologies, players and major up-and-coming trendsCustomer-oriented and able to establish robust relationship with assigned customer baseDynamic approach adapting to changing requirements with the ability to manage multiple opportunities concurrentlyExceptional communication skills and negotiation techniquesBSc in Business Administration or relatedFluent in English
Strong knowledge of all card schemes – JCB, UPI (CUP), AMEX, Diners, MasterCard, Visa etc. Compliance knowledge of payment ecosystem
Previous experience with lobbying on behalf of financial institutions
Deep understanding of global scheme regulations from a product perspective
Day to day:
Liaise with scheme leaders relating to relationship matters
Advise stakeholders on regulations in order to further the understanding of the business and it’s merchants Negotiate with the schemes on volume rates
Actively lobby for new initiatives relating to product development
Manage existing relationships within the schemes and develop new relationships with strategic partners.
