Job Description:

As a key leader of the product development ecosystem, the Director of Product Management maintains portfolio ownership and responsibility for the development, feature functionality, and user experience of both new products and releases of existing products supporting the Retail and eCommerce businesses geared toward creating an unrivaled omni-channel user experience that allow merchants to increase sales and delight their customers.

You will serve as the leader of an ecosystem of product delivery resources across multiple functions as well as collaborating with vertical industry Senior Management, IT leadership, Subject Matter Experts, merchants and consumers in translating market needs into product innovation and maintenance.

This position must lead the product development process by helping to define business process, user experience and providing necessary documentation for assigned products and platforms, including wireframes, process maps and functional design/requirement documents. This position will lead the product delivery process which will include attending stand-ups and coordinating operational/business readiness activities in support of release planning events. Additionally, you will lead ongoing meetings to report on results and align key stakeholders to the future roadmap for the product line.

Detailed responsibilities include:

  • Partner with the Business Unit Leader of eCommerce and Retail to conduct continuous needs analysis that combine business, market, and customer needs
  • Create, design and develop business process and workflow and feature/functionality/user experience that achieves the business objective while balancing future use/scale capability to technical/operational effort
  • Partner with Operations throughout product lifecycle to ensure successful product launch execution and support
  • Develop product/initiative business cases that capture feature requirements; manages scope of release; acts as product owner in development process
  • Identify and manage cross-portfolio & cross-project dependencies in conjunction with Project Management
  • Define product scalability, availability and manageability requirements
  • Assist with creating roadmaps and strategies focused on enhancing the long-term scalability of eCommerce business based on industry trends, emerging technologies and novel application of existing technologies
  • Work across various application groups to ensure an integrated Technical Product launch, including comprehensive solution technical documentation, pre-launch demos, and integrated user acceptance test plans
  • Manage product lines backlog and story prioritization in collaboration with the IT development team
  • Responsible for ensuring best-in-class user experience
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to produce sales demo and training materials
  • Manage and develop detailed product road maps, user experience mock ups, release notes, and user documentation
  • Administering day to day technical oversight for the products

Experience and Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering, business or related field required, Master’s degree preferred
  • This position requires occasional travel to customer and non-customer sites in the US
  • The Director - Product Management must possess a unique blend of business, project management, and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality
  • 5+ years of experience working in eCommerce industry with payment providers (such as Klarna, Bread, Affirm, or PayPal) or eCommerce platforms (such as Magento, Shopify, Weebly, WooCommerce, Bigcommerce) with a preference for both
  • 8+ years of experience and proven success in translating business strategy and analysis into successful products and platforms
  • At least 3 years of experience leading product teams
  • Previous experience delivering large scale technology platforms
  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills required, along with outstanding written and verbal communication skills, ability to analyze complex financial information, strong analytical skills, and the ability to use various product development and management software packages (i.e. Microsoft Project)
  • Self-starter willing to put in the hours necessary to excel
