We interview Salomé Lewis who has recently moved to Amsterdam and joined the Payments & Cards Network team as a Talent Acquisition Specialist! She takes us through her background and her journey to the company.
I grew up in the suburbs of Paris, France, where I was surrounded by the forest, fields, loads of pets and smaller brothers. I studied Business Law in Paris and Rome and started my career as an Ethics & Compliance officer, focusing on anti-corruption rules and regulations. I understood at the time that a legal position was not fulfilling for me and decided to move abroad to undertake a HR position. Therefore I got the amazing opportunity to move to Singapore for two years in a Learning & Development role and got to travel somewhere new around South-East Asia every month.
I wanted to experience another HR oriented role with a clear focus on sales and business development. I already led a start-up a few years ago and knew this kind of environment would get the best out of me. The location, Amsterdam, was also a big plus for me as I always wanted to experience the city’s lifestyle all the while staying close to my family in Paris. Finally, I wanted to escape the oil & gas industry for a sector that would be more fast paced and people driven.
I have always been fascinated by recruiters as facilitators of win-win situations. I am a people person so if I can help to create a positive impact to businesses and to people’s lives by matching aspirations and expectations, then I would be very proud of my job.
What I enjoy most about my role is the constant flow of social interactions, tasks to undertake at a fast-pace, coupled with the endless possibilities of ‘how to excel at your job’ which allows for flexibility and development. Also, I have to admit that I like challenge of negotiating over a particular situation or influencing people’s minds.
I usually spend my spare time travelling around, exploring nature and going hiking. I am also constantly surrounded by friends, discovering new places and finding locations to drink good wine. On an healthier note, I do a lot of sports (I am a certified coach in Jumping Fitness - and yes, nobody knows what it is) and self-development activities.
